Build A House In Thailand
How To Build A House In Thailand
The Retirement House We Are Building In Pakchong (Pak Chong), Thailand Is Nearly Finished – Learn How We Built It
Build a house in Thailand – the dream of many a westerner – dream of many Thais too. So many westerners are dreaming of retiring to Thailand and – married to a Thai lady – want to build their retirement house in Thailand.
We have done just that. Myself and my Thai wife, Kanyah, have built our dream house in Pakchong (Pak Chong), Thailand and are planning to retire there in future.
We recorded everything we did starting with buying a car (Toyota Hilux Vigo pickup) to give us the freedom to travel to look for land and buying land upon which to build the house in Thailand through to finding a Thai Architect, having the house plans made by the Thai Architect then finding builders in PakChong, Thailand (two in our case) through to actually building the house.
You can follow our story from the begining right up to the present day where Kanyah is putting the final touches the retirement house we have built in Pakchong (Pak Chong) on our blog on the RetiringInThailand.net website.

The house is not quite finished yet and we still have the landscaping to complete.

This is the image that gave me the inspiration to design the house for us to build in Thailand. The image is from some house plans that I downloadedfor free from the Thai Governement website.

The dream turned into reality. Compare the house above with both the inspiration for the house in the previous picture and wi the drawing below that I made myself based on a mixture of the Thai drawing and measuring up our own house here in the U. K.

This is one image from the house design that I produced for the house we wanted to build in Thailand. I made it using a CAD (Computer Aided Design) program. More of my CAD drawings are shown below.

The Thai house plan I made and the actual house that we built in Pakchong (Pak Chong), Thailand, are very similar and the key concept is largely retained. In the above image you will note that the steps in the real house have a half-way landing and that the balcony is full-width.

This is the second floor plan of my Thai house plan drawings. In the real house as we built in Pakchong (Pak Chong) the room layout didn’t change but the steps were brought into the balcony area so that we can use them when it is raining without getting soaking wet. The car will be parked under the car port so it will be possible to leave the house and get into the car still keeping dry in the rain.
